Join our Creative Writing Workshop!

We are excited to be part of the #YouthMediaLife International Conference 2021 and to have the opportunity to offer this workshop to you. The Uni-Verse Creative Writing Society will be leading a 90 minute workshop focused on how creative writing can build a community, and how it can be found in even the most unexpected places. We believe that there is #NoWrongWayToWrite

Kicking off with a 15 minute presentation, our starry-eyed Social Media Manager Amadea Brenner will introduce the Uni-Verse Creative Writing Society to the #YML2021 academic conference, and detail how our online community has kept Uni-Verse going and growing. From published anthologies to weekly meetings, from our virtual book release to shutting up and writing together on Zoom, we’ve relied on community support to achieve all that we aspire to do. Join us, represent us, write with us, dear Verselings, dear curious contenders, dear old friends and new, this workshop is for *you.* The 75 minute workshop will be led by UV Treasurer and ambitious poetess, Selina Rebhandl, and, UV Vice President and aspiring prose writer, Holly Evans. But, it will highly depend on active participation! Our workshop team has prepared interactive writing tasks, activities, and exercises to prompt attendees to create their own “mini” narratives. Using unconventional mediums like memes, dating profiles, social media posts, captions, playlists, group chats, etc., we’ll discover descriptive language, craft character sketches, engage in dialogue, ignite conflict, and work together to write stories and tell poetry.

*Bonus!* The content created in this workshop will have the chance to be collected and showcased in a unique #YouthMediaLife collaboration, representing how creative writing, in any form, can bring together and empower a diverse community.
